Size Guide

Clear guidance to help you measure your dog and choose the right fit.

Start With the Right Product

Sizing depends on the product you choose. Before taking measurements, make sure you know which type of gear you are ordering, such as a collar, harness, or harness link.

Each product requires different measurements. This page explains exactly what is needed for each one.

If you are unsure which product is right for your dog, we recommend reviewing finished examples first or visiting the How It Works page.

Collar Measurements

Collars require one measurement.

What to Measure

  • Neck size

Measure snugly around the base of your dog’s neck where the collar will sit. Do not add extra length. We build in appropriate adjustment.

This applies to all collar styles, including standard buckle, dual buckle, and martingale collars.

Model Y Step In Harness

The Model Y harness requires two measurements.

What to Measure

  • Chest

  • Girth

The chest measurement is taken across the front of your dog’s chest. The girth measurement is taken around the widest part of the ribcage.

These measurements ensure the harness sits securely without restricting movement.

Model H Harness and HarnessLink

These products require four measurements.

What to Measure

  • Neck

  • Girth

  • Back length

  • Under belly length

Each measurement is used to build a harness that distributes pressure evenly and fits your dog’s body properly.

Measurement instructions are specific and should be followed carefully.

No Measurements Required.

Leashes and hands free systems do not require measurements.

They are fully adjustable and designed to work across a wide range of sizes.

Choosing the Right Width

Width.jpeg

Biothane width is selected based on your dog’s size, strength, and the product you choose.

Smaller widths are lighter and ideal for small dogs. Wider straps provide added strength and structure for larger dogs.

Hardware is always sized to match the selected width for safety and balance.
